YOGA POD TUCSON
40-Hour Restorative Yoga Teacher Training
October 17th – November 8th, 2026
Integrate restorative yoga as a pathway to the benefits of deep rest, through the art and science of restorative yoga
Our Restorative Yoga Teacher Training explores the art and science of helping the body feel supported enough to soften, settle, and restore.
Designed for yoga teachers, wellness professionals, caregivers, and anyone drawn to the profound value of deep rest, this training will expand your understanding of supportive positioning, thoughtful prop use, and nervous-system care. You’ll leave with tools you can share with others and practices you can carry into your own life.
This training is certified by Yoga Alliance, and continuing-education credit is available for current yoga teachers.
Learn how to make space for real rest.
What Makes Our Restorative Teacher Training Program Different?
-
You won’t just learn a collection of restorative shapes. We explore the why behind the practice, weaving neuroscience, nervous system regulation, subtle energetics, trauma-informed teaching, sound, and more into a deeper understanding of how and why rest works.
-
Knowing restorative yoga and knowing how to teach it are different skills. You’ll learn how to make intelligent prop choices, adapt poses to different bodies, sequence intentionally, use language skillfully, and create a complete restorative experience your students can actually settle into.
-
There are some things you simply learn differently when you’re in the room together. This 40 hour training combines hands on, in person learning with four restorative classes at Yoga Pod, giving you the chance to practice, observe, ask questions, work with real bodies, and experience the work from both sides of the mat.

Kumari is an E-RYT 500 with more than 20 years of teaching experience and advanced training across restorative yoga, yin yoga, Yoga Nidra, meditation, and sound, including Yin Yoga Teacher Training with renowned teacher Bernie Clark. Her work centers around the art and science of slowing down—using stillness, mindful movement, deep rest, and sacred sound to support nervous system regulation and greater connection to self. As an educator, Kumari brings decades of experience and a deeply grounded approach to helping teachers understand not only how to guide these practices, but how to create meaningful spaces for rest, reflection, and transformation.

Good Things to Know Before Restorative Yoga Teacher Training.
Whether you’re joining us to expand your teaching or deepen your own relationship with rest, it’s natural to have questions before you begin. Here are answers to some of the things students ask us most often about our 40-hour Restorative Yoga Teacher Training.
-
Not at all. This training is designed for yoga teachers, wellness professionals, caregivers, and anyone interested in better understanding the art and science of deep rest. You’re welcome whether you plan to teach restorative yoga or simply want to integrate these tools into your own life and work.
-
Yes. The training includes 36 hours of live, in-person education at Yoga Pod Tucson plus four restorative yoga classes at the studio. That means you’ll have opportunities to practice, observe, ask questions, work with real bodies, and experience restorative yoga from both sides of the mat.
-
Yes. Yoga Pod Tucson’s 40-hour Restorative Yoga Teacher Training is Yoga Alliance certified and eligible for continuing education hours for current yoga teachers.
-
As you explore different teacher training programs, you'll notice that many (including ours) highlight that they are approved by Yoga Alliance. Yoga Alliance is the largest nonprofit association representing the yoga community. It is also the largest worldwide governing body that approves schools whose curriculum meet their 'standards'. These standards include which topics are taught and how many hours teachers spend teaching them. When choosing a yoga training program, looking for the Yoga Alliance stamp of approval can be helpful in that it means the program is more likely to be credible compared to programs where the school has not had their training program reviewed in depth and approved.
-
If you have already completed a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, yes. This training is designed to give yoga teachers the specialized skills to confidently incorporate restorative yoga into public classes and private sessions. You’ll learn intelligent prop use, restorative poses and sequencing, adaptations for different bodies, trauma-informed language, and how to create intentional experiences of rest.
If you have not completed a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, you are absolutely welcome to participate and will gain tools for your own practice and personal or professional development. However, this 40-hour training does not replace a foundational 200-hour YTT, which is required to formally teach yoga.
About Our Training.
-
We understand that life continues outside of our 40 hours together, and occasionally students may need to miss part of the training. In accordance with Yoga Alliance requirements, students may miss up to 10% of the training, or 4 hours total, and still receive their certificate after completing the provided make-up work. Students who miss more than 4 hours are welcome to complete the training, but will not be eligible to receive a certificate.
-
Yoga Pod Tucson requires all instructors to have at least 50 hours of logged teaching experience with Yoga Alliance before applying for a teaching position. If you are interested in teaching at Yoga Pod Tucson after completion of the training and you go on to fulfill your 50 hours of teaching experience, you will have the opportunity to demo your class to receive more mentorship and community class experience at Yoga Pod Tucson. If your community classes go well, you will receive an invitation to be on the studio substitute instructor list and eventually have a regular class, assuming your substitute role is a good fit for both you and the studio and a regular class opens up that aligns with your schedule.
-
Yes! We offer interest-free payment plans. A $500 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your spot, and we’ll work with you to create a payment timeline that fits your budget.
