Hari Rai Khalsa
Director of Cultural Excellence Yoga Teacher
What brought you to yoga?
A whimsical inspiration and pure, new year's curiosity led me across the threshold of my first yoga class. That clarity of mind, flexibility of the spine and softening of the heart has guided me consistently back over the past twenty years.
What’s your yoga background and what are you most passionate about teaching?
After flowing from one style to another, I found my home in Vinyasa and Kundalini Yoga. In June 2004, I became a certified 200 hour Kundalini Yoga Instructor — and have since realized my 300 hour training in moduled locations across the country. In class, I am most passionate about teaching that sacred weave between breath, movement and music, thereby seeking to invoke an uplifting, heart-opening experience.
What would your students be surprised to know about you?
I once held three consecutive, sixty-two minute meditations while sitting on my heels, my arms stretched directly overhead with my palms touching — all while chanting "Sat Nam" (I am truth); within minutes after this ecstatic experience, I met my now husband.
